My students need Harry Potter, and The Lion, Witch, and The Wardrobe for read to self time. They need I Can Common Core display cards, a Turn & Learn stand, sentence strips, and a bulletin board.
This will be my 1st year teaching, because I just graduated this May. I do not have a lot of money to spend to start my classroom off since I was a student until now. I will be using the Daily 5 and need plenty of books for the classroom.
My students are 5th graders, and I have not met them yet.
The school is a very small school that lacks a lot of supplies. But, it is a close knit community that seems very friendly. I have heard from other teachers that the students do not like to write. So, I will have to find fun ways to get them to enjoy writing. I will also have two autistic children, so I will have to find resources that will be helpful for them also. I will be teaching language arts with two classes of 13, and a social studies class, and maybe an art class as well. I know the other teachers have told me that there are no art supplies at the school either.
My Project
My students will be using the books for the Daily 5 that I will be implementing into their centers. For the read to self center they will need numerous of books to choose to read from. Some I would like to include in the collection would be the Harry Potter ones, and The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I need books from different genres, and reading levels. It would also help if some of the books included audio tapes. I need the write and wipe pocket chart to go over vocabulary words. I need the bulletin board to display students' achievements throughout the year need the sentence strips so students can use it for group work. I need the I can display cards for working on vocabulary words, and the turn and learn chart stand for group work.
My project will make a difference because I love to make learning fun!
I will go above and beyond to make learning exciting and fun for the students. It will change the students' lives because it will make them look at learning in a different light.
