My students are an amazing group of students mostly diagnosed with Autism or other disabilities. We live in a low to middle income area with students of all different ethnicities. Some of their disabilities impact them greatly and others are able to spend more time around typical peers. My students love sports, positive incentives and just talking about all that interests them. They are filled with lots of energy and enthusiasm and I am always impressed with the way that they think and all that they contribute to this class and this world. They are creative and fun and keep me on my toes.
My Project
My students need to move a lot! They also need to feel motivated to do academics or they have a hard time doing them. My students love to talk about sports and play sports but sometimes don't have access to all the different types of items. These materials will allow my students who have sensory needs to be able to grow themselves as well as regulate themselves to learn!
The Pilates ball provide will allow them to participate in a sensory schedule to help them regulate throughout the day.
Most of my students benefit from using a Pilates ball, but I do not have one yet.
