My Students

My students are thirsty for the opportunity to learn and be immersed in the world of literature. They are 6th grade and live in a community of the Federal Way Public Schools. They are culturally diverse and very eager to learn when given the appropriate tools and resources. I will have close to 100 students who vary widely in their reading abilities- all of which though are worthy and deserving of a chance to read what they want to read! I am inspired by their thirst and the love that surrounds the community of teachers and staff with these young scholars.

My Project

This project will help to build my class library in order to give my students the opportunity to browse beyond their required readings! It will allow my students to continue to build their vocabulary and their own personal libraries by finding a book that they fall in love with!

These books will not only give my students another resource for which to learn, it will also brighten up our classroom and provide for a comfy corner where students can truly immerse themselves in a safe place not only just to read but to lose themselves in a piece of writing that truly means something to them.

I think every classroom should give students the chance to read, to take a break among the books, and enjoy.
