My Students

Students need a variety of creative ways to demonstrate their learning; with paper, markers, and crayons, the possibilities are endless!

My students are from a low-income, high poverty area.

Their parents work hard to support them, but providing school supplies is often difficult. As a first year teacher, I want to make sure my students have paper, markers, and crayons ready and at their disposal.

My Project

I LOVE teaching literacy. In first grade, we will focus on becoming authors, and my students will be creating their own books. Using paper, pencils, markers, and crayons, my students will be able to write stories and add beautiful illustrations. I have a special display in the classroom for published student books - books made with these supplies.

As a first year teacher, it can be overwhelming to acquire the supplies I would like for my students to have.

In first grade, the process of becoming a writer can be intimidating. By providing my students with great writing supplies, they will be excited to capture their stories on paper and share them with their classmates and families.
