I teach science and writing to sixty 5th graders. My district services three small rural towns and we have a high free and reduced lunch percentage. This group of students are hard workers and very inquisitive. Because of this, I want to give them more resources to use in the classroom to help enrich their daily activities in school.
Help me give my students more resources, flexible seating and exciting new text to read and work from in the classroom.
Each student works hard every day to achieve success in my classroom, through reading, researching and experimenting.
My Project
These materials will be used to help students with low income as well as enrich each student and their work that is completed in class. Our class is in need of daily supplies and books/resources. The items I am in need of are school supplies that my students can use for engaging class activities, exciting new reading materials such as the Who Was... Series ("Who was Pele," and "Where is The Bermuda Triangle.") Newbery Award Winning or nominated books such as "A Dog's Purpose," "Lemons," and "Bud, Not Buddy." These books have also recently been turned into movies that will help interest and engage the readers in my class. I am also requesting a triangle book holder that will showcase the "popular" books in the classroom.
In a title school, these supplies will be used to help a range of students and meet the needs of every student in my classroom.
As a first year teacher in the fifth grade, my classroom is lacking many materials and supplies we need to succeed daily. This project will help fund these materials to be used in a fifth grade classroom that focuses on writing, science, and RTI.
Some classroom supplies I am in need of for my classroom include an electric pencil sharpener, stapler, white out and crafts bond glue sticks for writers workshop, magnetic strips to be used for engaging whiteboard matching games and activities, and a magnetic curtain rod to hold anchor charts up on the whiteboard so all students have easy vision to the anchor chart.
