Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I serve 6-8 grade students at a Middle School I specifically, serve about 300, 6th graders. This school is a Title 1 school. The students that attend our Middle School are mainly Hispanics and come from Mexico. A lot of them come in as Non-English speakers; therefore, they have to take ESL classes in order to learn to speak English. We have quite a few that are undocumented and our students mostly live in impoverished communities.

Our school works hard to have a positive school environment, school climate and school culture.

Teachers and staff find it to be very important to build relationships with students. We have great parent and community involvement.

My Project

Our school is located in an impoverished community that has violence and gang affiliation. Due to this information, for the safety of our staff, students and building, clear and mesh backpacks were made a requirement.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement because students will be in a safe learning environment.

Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, rather than worry about their safety at school. Currently, our students feel safe at our school!
