My students need to be provided with the fun, engaging, and meaningful materials for literacy and math centers. I want them to have fun while learning.
Did you ever think school was boring? All you remember is recess? Let's change that for the students in my class. Let's make independent learning time engaging, fun, and educational through play. Spanish materials are much harder to find and my kids deserve to have beautiful store bough materials
Compared to English, Spanish materials are limited.
This means that Spanish teachers create most materials themselves, but these are not as colorful and engaging for first graders as professionally made materials. I want my students to love reading and math. These games and materials will help a lot!
Our class is made up of 18 little first graders, half of who are native Spanish speakers and the other half are native English speakers. They are very excited about learning about math and the right materials will help them get closer to that goal! Many of my students come from homes where familiar and fun reading and math materials are not readily available. Thus providing them with engaging and exciting materials to help them love math and reading is crucial.
My Project
I have searched various websites and selected the materials that will create fun and engaging math and literacy centers that will help my students work on the specific math/literacy skills they need to become and grow as learners. Some of these materials include letter beads, letter stamps, ink, pocket charts, write on dice, magnetic ten frames, pocket charts, gears, geometry games, measurement stacking pegs and magnetic sentence strips. Each of these activities will be used as different parts of our independent daily math and literacy instruction.
As in any classroom, my students are all at different math skill levels.
The materials I have selected allow for differentiation and will meet my students' various needs. By donating to this project you will help all of my students fall in love with math!
