My Students
Students at my school are ready to learn in the gym and are motivated to give their best effort for their bodies through exercise and sport! Equipment is so important in any gym and the students of PK find it exciting to learn something new in my gym. I am the PE Teacher a K-6 elementary school, and many of my students do not know the great team offerings of the sport of field hockey. There is an excitement about learning this unfamiliar sport in PE, but I do not have the funds to purchase a full set of equipment. Field hockey reinforces team building and eye-hand coordination skills while improving overall fitness levels.
My Project
My students have several units in PE that focus on striking skills and eye-hand coordination. I am always looking for ways to make learning in the gym new and exciting.
Field hockey is a great sport to reinforce these skills and, since it is a sport unfamiliar to many of my students, it makes learning fun.
The field hockey stick set needed will introduce my students to the sport of field hockey while they engage in activities centered on striking, eye-hand coordination, and team building skills. I plan to introduce my students to the history of field hockey and explore the USA Field Hockey Olympic teams.
