Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a technology teacher in an impoverished section of Queens, N.Y. I would like for my students in the Tech Club to learn how to create the school newsletters and calendars from beginning to end. These select students are learning to create the Student of the Month Certificates and design logos using the school mascot, the dolphin. We have successfully designed the school shirt and now we would like to publish the school newsletter for parents. These items would be of interest to all 750 students in our school. The newsletter will go out to every student's home and the school calendar will go out once a month. Every month we learn about filling in cells and adding pictures to make our calendars come alive. My dreams of making a special edition calendar for the next school year, complete with pictures of activities and classes would be closer to reality with the software program Boardmaker. With this software, my students will be able to create the calendars for their classes as well as the entire school. Boardmaker could probably replace a chalkboard in some of our classes. Every teacher and student will benefit from the use of this software.
