New Small Group Table For Special Learners

My Project

I work in a self-contained special education classroom. My students are special needs learners. The majority are on the autism spectrum and non-verbal. The remaining have other special learning needs and learning disabilities. Our special learners require individualized and small group instruction. The requested tables are teaching tables that will be used for small group instruction and will help students continue their social/ emotional learning and academic learning through having appropriately sized tables where I can sit and work with students. This will allow me to better interact with them, support their learning, and allow them to work in small groups with their peers. COVID resulted in a mandatory school shut down that halted in-person instruction and this caused learning loss and learning gaps in my students. In addition, with limited peer interactions during the shutdown, students need to relearn appropriate social behaviors and learn how to interact and communicate with one another. Providing them with this individualized and small group instruction at these teaching tables will allow me to target their learning gaps and catch them up.
