This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I live and work in the China Town of Houston. My students are 7 to 8 year olds from China, Cuba, Honduras, Mexico, Columbia, Vietnam, and El Salvador. I teach them in Spanish. Spanish. Yes, that's right. I teach Hispanic and non-Spanish speakers Spanish. My students come from all walks of life, first-time-going-to-school refugees to the children of successful business leaders. And they are all eager to learn. This year's focus is to incorporate more science and math into my reading block.

My Project

A large part of our day is writing and my students are learning to write, and with that comes holding the pencil. With constant pencil leads breaking, we need a new tool to help us get to our writing goals.

My students have huge learning deficits.

The coronavirus changed our lives, but can you imagine how kids are dealing with this? These workbooks will help students get a new approach to Math with Singapore Math. We need something new and something different. Hopefully this at home practice can engage their brain and help them think of Math differently.
