My students need alternative seating to help increase their focus and engagement attitudes towards learning. Alternative seating makes classrooms more fun, welcoming, and allows the students a choice of how they would like to learn.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are growing up in a high poverty and high needs area of Omaha. They are also growing up in an age where technology rules the world. They struggle with remaining engaged and focused throughout each and every day, all day long. They are great kids and need to feel the support behind them and believed in!

These kids are judged and stereotyped based on where they live, which far from describes the truly amazing students that they are.

My Project

These choices for alternate seating are going to empower my students in their every day learning. It will allow them to take a grasp of one area that they can choose how to learn for the day. It will allow them to focus more on the instructions given because they will not feel like they are strapped to seat all day long anymore. I cannot wait for my students to be able to have this luxury and freedom of something this simple compared to their complex lives outside of my classroom! They are going to love having these special items to help them in their learning.
