My students need more flexible seating (exercise balls and stools!), new reference books, and yoga mats to help their bodies and brains be ready to learn!
We are a multiage (1st, 2nd and 3rd grade) Montessori classroom. Students are free to work in a carefully prepared, inspiring, and nurturing environment. We have 27 kids, ages 6 to 9, in our classroom community. Our students represent the community of St. Paul.
I am fortunate to teach students for 3 years - their 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade year.
Students are given the opportunity to take responsibility for their own learning. Each child is an important member of the community who also is responsible for the health and well-being of the community. Older students can be role models for younger kids. I carefully prepare the environment so it is enticing for students. They are encouraged to work independently and together, continually building curiosity and delving deeper into each content area.
My Project
Hello!
I am requesting a few things to make our classroom a productive and peaceful learning environment:
1. More flexible seating: exercise balls and stools will help keep students moving and engaged while they work and learn.
2. Reference books for studying animals, botany, and more! I have checked each of these books out from the public library in the past and the students have loved reading them and using them to launch research!
3. Yoga mats for students to do yoga when they need a movement break.
4. Grammar symbols that help teach students that each word in a sentence has a job!
