My students are creative, thoughtful, and hardworking students who are eager to learn different aspects of mathematics! They love hands-on activities, engaging projects and challenges in math class that get them thinking outside the box! They come to school each day ready to try new things, step out of their comfort zones, and to grow personally and academically. They truly are an inspiration to me! Some students are getting discouraged from completing classwork because of the lack of calculators in the classroom, so I hope to have a full set of calculators for my students to use on their own!
My Project
This year, I am taking an initiative to display more student work by using Vertical Non-permanent Surfaces (VNPS) - a.k.a. dry-erase whiteboards. Studies have shown that students working on VNPS allow for students to get out of their seat, which activates their thinking, allows students to see work of other groups, and allows me as the teacher to see the work of each group quickly and provide feedback as they work. The other supplies (notebooks, glue, tape, colored paper, and pencils) needed will go towards the individual interactive notebooks that my students will be creating as the year goes on that will act as their own individualized textbook.
