This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching 24 super smart first graders. Unfortunately, my students come from a high-poverty, low socioeconomic community. Ninety-nine percent of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Despite these circumstances, my children are full of spirit and have positive attitudes about learning. They absolutely love coming to school.
These first graders come in each morning with hugs and big smiles on their faces.
They are eager to learn and love for me to teach them new things. I want to make their learning experiences as meaningful and fun as possible.
My Project
The first day of school is very important for young children. It can be exciting and scary at the same time. I want to make my kiddos feel comfortable and welcomed. Our first graders come from a very low income district. Most of our students will not have school supplies on the first day of school. We are asking for pencils, paper, crayons, glue sticks, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, paper towels, and printer ink.
These basic supplies will make our students feel comfortable and excited about starting the new school year.
They will not be embarrassed about not having their supplies, because I will have all the things they need, waiting on their desk. for them when they arrive. Please consider a donation to our "New School Year - New School Supplies" project. These supplies will put huge smiles on our students' faces!
