Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Did you know new books have release dates just like movies? My students know and they are always looking for some of those new releases.
A snapshot of our middle school shows a diverse high-need school comprised of about 1,100 students in grades six to eight.
Half of our student population receives free or reduced priced lunch. Approximately half of our students receive support services in addition to their core classes. Many of our students are not native English speakers. The students have all been impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
My Project
Book orders for our school library are processed twice a year. During the months in between a lot of great books are published and released but not available to our students. The children see the books in the stores but when they ask for a title in the school library they are sadly let down. This request is for some of the books my students ask for that we do not own such as Ripley's Special Edition 2014. Also I requested the STAT Books, by NBA Star Amare Stoudemire, which encourage middle grade students to Stand Tall and Talented.
Please help fill in the gaps of our school library collection with these highly anticipated books.
My students are begging for new titles and by supporting our project you can assure they will have new books to read.
