Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a small rural community. My school serves K-8th grade students. The school library provides books and services to all 9 grades. Most of the students here are from low-income homes or homes where English is a second language. They wait patiently every morning for me to unlock the library door. They come to the library for a variety of reasons, to read, check out books, get warm, use the computer, and other activities that I provide for them.
My Project
We are starting a brand new school year and I am hoping for some new books to give to my students to get them reading from day 1. In order to get them reading, I need to provide books that they are interested in. Then new book ,"Dog Man: For Whom the Ball Rolls" from the Dog Man series by Dave Pilkey is a sure winner. My students love this series and I know are anxiously awaiting this new book.
The "Mother Bruce" books will appeal to my younger readers.
They are already invested in this series as we have read all the other books, in the series, as read alouds. Thank you for considering my proposal. New books, new school year, excited student readers are the best way to start our school year.
