Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have an amazing group of fifth grade students this year. They are all very special and continue to astound me every day with their curiosity, learning and kind hearts. I can honestly say I love working with these children.
My class is made up of mostly Hispanic and Caucasian children, and many come from low income, single parent homes.
There are several different levels of language ability including some students who are brand new to our country. I love seeing how my students support and encourage each other on a daily basis. They are very kind and compassionate children.
My school is a Title I school in northern California. Many students here come from low income families. Some students struggle with being able to afford basic school supplies, backpacks, and even winter coats. It is such a blessing to have the DonorsChoose.org community which supports education and is a partner is helping my students reach their full potential. With your help, I want to do everything I can to give my students the best school year.
My Project
I want the 2020-2021 school year to be a new stress-free beginning for my students. Our community has been affected by COVID-19, and many parents will struggle to purchase school supplies for their children. By providing these supplies for students, the burden will be eased for both the parents and for my students.
When my students are not stressing over school supplies, they can focus on starting the new school ready to learn.
This will give them a sense of confidence because of knowing that their classroom is a safe space where all students will receive what they need to succeed.
