Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with a wonderful group of kindergartners who are excited about school and look forward to learning new things everyday. My school opened two years ago to many students who were moved because their neighborhood school was overcrowded.

With new beginnings, our school has very few materials and activities to help make the learning environment engaging for our students.

We are not a Title I school, so our funds are limited, and many of the activities I do in class and the materials I use have come out of my pocket.

My Project

I have been teaching for eleven years, worked for three different school districts and recently moved across the state to a new town. With the moves and eleven years of classes using the materials they are in desperate need of updates! Unfortunately cost of new things adds up which falls on teachers most of the time.

My students deserve to have new materials to engage them in their learning!

To help update my current materials I am requesting some items that will hopefully last another 10+ years. I will use the light table manipulatives to add to my growing light table center. The headphones will replace our current ones that are showing the wires and are all bent up. We will use the retelling and felt puppets in our retelling station. The Puzzle Globe will be used often to show exactly where things are when we discuss them in our lessons. The play sand, colored rice and various seasonal manipulatives will go into our sensory table for the students to explore through out the year. Finally, the tracers and dress boards will help my students development of fine motor skills.

Having new and current materials is something that will continue to engage my students which will also help their motivation to learn!
