New School Needs Take-Home Reading Library

Help me give my students 200 leveled reading books to help them feel confidence in reading and expand their imagination.

My Students

My first grade students are very sweet and eager to learn despite the many challenges they have encountered during this pandemic. Many attended kindergarten online during their entire school year which puts them at a greater disadvantage from those who were able to attend in person. The mandate for wearing masks during school created another barrier for helping them to clearly hear vowel and consonant sounds which has put all of them behind in their early literacy skills.

Covid has interrupted some of their most important years of learning and all of them are working incredibly hard to catch up to where they need to be in literacy, math, and social skills.

My Project

All students benefit from having access to a variety of books that expand their thinking and imagination. Strong reading skills will give my students the power they need to be successful in all areas of their life!

These books will help my students get excited about reading both at school and at home, which ultimately fosters reading fluency and confidence.

This classroom take-home reading library will allow each student the opportunity to practice reading books each night that not only expand their imagination, but support and challenge their reading abilities such as their decoding skills.
