My students need a large carpet for whole class lessons, small group work, reading, and game time! A easy, lightweight vacuum cleaner my students can use is also needed to keep our carpet clean and long-lasting.

My Students

My students are active third graders from a rural community in southern Michigan. Our school is a small 3-5 building with 3-4 classrooms per grade level. We are a Title I school with over 60% of our students receiving free/reduced breakfast and lunches.

Overall, my students are active learners and have a thirst for new knowledge.

They love learning, especially math and science/social studies! When interested in the reading material, they beg for a more time to read. However, keeping their interest all year long is difficult, which is why high interest reading material is so crucial. Being active, students need an opportunity to wiggle while they work.

My students love to be challenged academically and are social bugs. They are active outside of school with multiple extra-curricular activities.

My Project

Thirde graders don't like to sit at their desks all day, they need a place to sit on the floor too. We currently use our carpet throughout the day for whole class lessons, small group work, independent/partner reading, and playing games. A new carpet will make a daily impact as we use it constantly in all subject areas. However, our current carpet has lived as long as it could and is falling apart at the seams. In addition, students are responsible for keeping our classroom clean, so a vacuum will help students learn to take care of our carpet too!
