This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
For my first two years in the classroom I had the privilege of teaching math in Dorchester, MA to newcomers from Haiti. It has been a wonderful experience to watch my students' hard work translate to growth in math and English. This past year I taught four sections of Algebra I including a class of newcomers and two special education classes.
Last year my students experienced a flipped mastery classroom where they were responsible for mastering Algebra I content; this year I plan on improving that model by providing more opportunities to apply their math skills in a variety of contexts.
By the end of the year my students will become technologically savvy mathematicians!
My Project
My students love to show show their work but not everyone feels comfortable going to the front of the room and writing on the board. To fix this problem I created a DonorsChoose project for an iPad Pro and Apple TV. My project was fully funded and my students were excited to use the new materials, but unfortunately my projector is too old to connect to the Apple TV and I need to upgrade it so that my students can show their work. Once this project is funded my class will be transformed into a place where technology is helping all students succeed.
Having this new projector will finally unleash the power of the iPad Pro and Apple TV.
Students love to use the new technology and more students are willing to show their work!
