My Students

My students are a unique mix of learners from a diverse suburban and rural area. In my classroom, you will often find students working together to solve problems and learn new skills, whether in small groups or with a partner.

My kids come from many different backgrounds with many different experiences.

These differences help my students learn from one another through discussion and teamwork. From the first day of school, we work together to create our classroom family that my students love to be a part of!

My Project

My students absolutely love doing whole class novel studies. They break out into cheer when they find out that we will soon begin a new novel study during our reading block.

Novels give our students access to more complex text that our reading textbooks cannot always provide.

Through novel studies, I am not only able to teach our reading standards to my students, but also valuable life lessons. Each of these novels will allow my students to think deeper about friendships, especially with those that are different than they are. They will be able to make personal connections to these characters that will stick with them for many years to come.
