My students need new non-fiction books for the classroom library. These new titles include collections at the specific Fountas and Pinnell Guided Reading Levels needed for first grade.
My little first graders are full of energy and enthusiasm. I want to keep that spark from the very first day of school to the very last day of school. Children learn by experiencing their world and non-fiction texts brings the world to them.
Young children like to learn about REAL things!
My students are no exception. First Graders are actively engaged when learning facts about the "real world". They love to teach others about the new information they learn.
My Project
My students are in great need of new and engaging non-fiction texts. I am working to build my classroom library with a wide variety of texts and topics that will interest all students.
I have chosen a variety of non-fiction texts that I know my students will enjoy during their independent reading time.
My students need leveled non-fiction texts to develop early reading skills and to continue to grow through the challenge of progressions taught in Readers and Writers Workshop.
These resources will support my students to be active participants in their learning throughout each and every day. They will have access to interesting, thoughtful books that will help them develop a love of reading to carry into their futures.
