Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a music teacher at a public charter school in Las Vegas, Nevada. My school serves students from preschool to 8th grade. An essential part of our charter is our focus on multiculturalism; a focus that is made manifest in our student body. My students represent a wide array of cultural backgrounds and speak many different languages.
My students come from differing social and financial backgrounds as well, which only furthers their ability to learn from one another each day.
My students are fun-loving and happy. I am fortunate and privileged to be their teacher. They love music and always come ready to participate. At my school, we know that the students matter and we strive each day to give them the best possible chance to learn new things and prepare to be college graduates. I love my students and my school and I thank you for all your selfless support.
My Project
The three musical selections would be wonderful additions to our very small music library. These tunes are not only catchy but playable for each grade level. If acquired, they can be used for many years.
"Imperium" would be a great tune to play at our Spring concert.
It's a famous song that has a very entertaining melody.
"El Toro" is a popular song most children love and would be a great addition to play for our future concerts.
"Shadow Dancer" is an excellent piece for late 7th grade and early 8th grade. It has a great tune and would be a welcomed addition to our library.
