Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a classroom of 6-7-years-old with a variety of intellectual needs, who live in an economically challenged area, where there may only be one caregiver. My students will need to focus on being new 1st graders, using all the senses, as well as becoming new readers.
Although economically challenged, they are each excited about a new year in school, learning to read and write effectively, to start work in the world of science, and focus on their math skills.
These kids are deserving of the opportunity to excel in all they do. In order to accomplish this goal for science, math, and reading we ask for your assistance in providing the materials needed to focus on our classroom work. It is vital to have the appropriate tools necessary in order for all of the students to learn and succeed with this curriculum.
With your help, my kids will look forward to each day, anticipating a whole new world of fascinating school work that teaches them about the world they live in and a world of surprising information that will also help spur their thirst for knowledge.
My Project
The use of the math manipulatives will give my students a fun activity while still learning. It will be a daily activity in my classroom, for math helping students to understand addition and subtraction. The rolling storage cart will give the the room to store all the paperwork needed for the day without having to search and use up valuable time that could be spent with the kids. The manipulatives will allow them to see exactly what they are doing, as well as give me a chance to see how they are doing. By having these tools my students will be able to avoid misunderstanding, be able to show me their understanding, and focus on increasing their learning!
