Music is a path that opens up doors for both the students who play it and the audiences who listen to it. And my students are very, very eager to keep opening those doors. They play jazz, rock, classical, and everything in between. Anything we throw at them, they play. They are a devoted group of individuals who play hard while having lots of fun!
In the past five years, we are fortunate to have grown from a band of 18 to a band of 115.
In addition to marching band, we offer choir, concert band, symphonic band, two jazz bands, jazz combos, drumline, color guard, and other small groups. We perform for many festivals and events at school and in our community, as well as all over the state.
My Project
Tenor drums are marching percussion instruments that are worn over the shoulders with a harness. They have multiple drums that are tuned differently to create different notes. They are loud, fun, and impressive instruments, both visually and musically. The tenor drums that we currently have are many years old, very heavy, and falling apart. Essentially, they have outlived their lifespan, and it is time to replace them.
With these new pieces of equipment, students will be able to perform at their top level, and they will sound good while they do it.
They will, in turn, have a more enjoyable performance and experience. These new drums are lighter, ensuring students won't hurt themselves while playing. Furthermore, they will last many years to come, giving many students years of fun playing music!
