My students need basic learning materials for our classroom. I'm new to my grade level and don't have any of the science materials or rock and mineral materials I need to teach my basic lessons.
I teach at a Title I school in Georgia near the carpet capital of the world! My school has a very large immigrant population and at least 65% of our students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Many of my students benefit from our "back pack buddy" program. This program assures that our students will have some food to eat every weekend.
Our Complex serves almost 2,000 students K-5 and provides rigorous academics and wonderful teachers.
I try my best to provide a safe learning environment and to make my students feel welcome. Despite their hardships, my sweet students show up eager to learn and try their best.
My Project
Our school has a large number of immigrant students and I want to be able to give all my students the best education I can possibly give. I feel like my students would learn best from hands on experiences and with me being new to my grade level, my resources are very limited.
The best way to learn all about rocks and minerals is to be able to actually touch them and feel them.
The best way to learn about temperature is by using a real thermometer. The best way to learn about magnets is to actually use one and see what it sticks to!
