This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students and I are from a Title I school that is located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. My students will be from both the local neighborhood as well as from the surrounding neighborhoods. I will be filling a new role next year, moving from 5th grade to kindergarten, and I couldn’t be more excited!

I am looking forward to meeting my new class and leading them on an amazing learning adventure.

For many of them this is their first experience in the classroom and a school, I take this role very seriously and cant wait to instill in them a love for reading, learning, and school!

My Project

I will be teaching a new grade next year, making quite the jump from 5th grade to kindergarten. This new rug will help my students learn about their personal space and how to maintain focus during a lesson. For many of my students this will be their first time in a classroom setting and this rug will help set them up for success as they are learning throughout the day.

I'm told a rug with individual boxes is an essential when teaching kindergarten!

This carpet will also be a major help to me as the teacher in guiding them learning centers, read alouds, mini lessons, and more! The rug is a central piece of the classroom where we will come together to learn and grow!!
