Our school's mission is to prepare 100% of our scholars with the academic foundation and the character skills necessary for success in college, career, and life. We believe that every scholar can learn, grow, prosper, and have a positive impact on their families and in their community. We are thrilled to take on year five of our seven-year growth plan.
The 500 scholars at our schools come from diverse backgrounds and have created their own community and family.
More than 99% of our students live in Fall River. A majority of the scholars are labeled Economically Disadvantaged by the state of Massachusetts. Many of our scholars live lives of food insecurity, housing insecurity, and too many are homeless. This has a large impact on not only access to education but also engagement in learning. For the 2018-19 school year, the middle school will enroll 300 scholars in grades 6 through 8. The high school will enroll 200 scholars in grades 9 and 10. Our school believes all scholars, with hard work and support, can excel academically and prepare for and graduate from college.
My Project
In the 2019-2020 academic year, scholars at Argosy Collegiate Charter School will be enrolled in a new American Government course. This highly rigorous and quick paced government course will call upon scholars to deeply study the way the US government works and what their role in America is.
Chris Matthews' book is essential to the study of politics and being a successful politician.
With both a first-hand perspective and a birds-eye perspective, this book will not only support our instruction in the US government but will also give our scholars essential leadership character skills. The mission of the government course is \ to not only show our scholars how the government works but also how they can have an active role in it!
