This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I School in North Carolina and many of my students are at-risk for academic failure. This is many of my students' first time in a school setting. The early learners in my class are more interested in the process of discovering and manipulating materials, much more than the final products of their experiments. Learning experiences are meaningful and relevant for every child and reflect his or her developmental, cultural, and individual circumstances. My students love to move and be active. However, because of recent budget cuts, we are unable to purchase additional resources such as the ones requested.
My Project
In order to teach financial literacy skills to my young student, I must help them build a solid math foundation. I am requesting a book, Hands-On Standards Handbook - Grades PreK-K, to help me grow as a professional to learn how to create engaging math lessons to build that solid foundation.
I can also use the printer and ink for my students by printing math centers for daily math practice.
In order to work on financial literacy lesson plans, the supplies are needed to prepare my students for kindergarten by gaining math awareness.
With my learning of how to present early math concepts, such as counting, money recognition, and values along with these basic supplies will make that possible.
