My students need paint, crayons, paper, clay, beads, pom poms, wiggle eyes, & craft sticks. These materials will enrich & nourish my students' creativity through a variety of media & techniques as we explore art.
I am a new Elementary Art teacher, and I will start teaching art to 300+ grade 1 - 6 students at a Title I public school this fall.
This is the first time the students at our school have ever had an art program, so we do not have any art supplies on hand yet besides notebook paper and pencils.
Most of our students come from families at or below the poverty level and receive free lunch benefits - many cannot afford basic school supplies. This is an amazing opportunity to shine a light of hope and enrich the lives of our children through art, creative expression, and exposure to activities that link hand and heart.
My Project
We are starting our art program completely from scratch. All of grade 1 - 6 students will be visiting the art room every day. My vision is to have a beautiful, well-equipped art space where students' creativity is nourished every day, filling our school with student art, and creating a sense of pride and an appreciation for art in general.
With your donations, our students will have the opportunity to paint, draw, make sculptures, learn about many different artists and techniques, and be exposed to and inspired by a wealth of classroom art materials and resources as we fulfill our school's mission to prepare our students for excellence in college, career, and life.
Projects include lessons that explore the principles and elements of art through drawing, painting, and making sculptures. Students will make water color animals, paint self portraits, sculpt pinch pots, make puppets, and a host of other exciting activities with the supplies you donate. Thank you so much for your generosity!
