Mrs. Andrecovich from Detroit MI is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
We need this item to dry clothes in our laundry room. The motor on our classroom dryer cannot be repaired and we need a new dryer as soon as possible.

The students submitting this project are DeAngelo, Bradley and Royce. They are all cognitively impaired and are autistic as well. The students come to me daily to learn laundry skills to help them become more independent. Many of the students in our school do not have water in their homes nor do they have the necessary products at home to clean their clothes. Many come to school wearing the same outfit for more than a week.
This project will enable my students to have the essential appliance and products needed to get their clothes clean whenever needed.
All students that come to the LifeSkills Laundry Class will learn how to take care of their clothing using a washer and dryer. The skills learned in this class will enable them to become more independent by learning to take care of their belongings. In addition, students in other classes, that need clothes washed and dried because they have no appliances in their homes, will be able to bring their dirty and soiled clothes to the Laundry to get cleaned. Students will learn how to measure the proper amount of detergent, use the dials on the machine for the different types of clothes they are cleaning and drying and work together as a team to wash and dry clothes for fellow students. When students move on to Group Homes or apartments they will have the necessary skills to take proper care of keeping their clothing clean.
Our goal is to have a laundry room equipped with good running washers and dryers so we can wash and dry our clothes on a daily basis. We want to be clean so that we can go to work at our different jobs looking fresh and clean. We want to help our fellow friends.
As leaders in the Laundry Lifeskills Program, we will make sure to get the word out to our peers in the building that we can wash, dry and iron clothes for anyone in our building. Many students need this service since they have no water at home while some have no appliances either.
Being clean and fresh is what everyone wants! We want our friends to know that they can come to the Laundry Lifeskills Class anytime and get their clothes cleaned for free. Our friends don't have to worry about not having clean clothes everyday. We are here to help in any way we can.
