Mrs. Dorsett from Richmond VA is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need test dividers this school year. The dividers we have are old and written on. We need a fresh start to the new year.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Our elementary school is a Title I school and a significant percentage of the students live in a one parent family in public housing. Many of my students do not have access to different reading resources as well as technology to have for them to be successful.
Reading is a big key to improve their mind both psychologically and cognitively.
Many of the students do not have access to technology tools at home and if they do, they do not have access to the internet or books at home. Because of this, students lack basic technology and reading skills. I would like to integrate more technology and an intensive reading program in the classroom to encourage growth for each student at their own level and their own pace!
The students test every year and we need dividers to help the students with privacy. Privacy allows the students to think and being able to concentrate when they are taking an exam. Our classrooms dividers are in bad conditions and the students need new ones. Providing new dividers is a fresh start to the school year and it will allow the students to look forward to something.
The students I teach come from an economically challenging background and can't afford some of the materials we need as a school.
The school is 100% free lunch and no one in our school go home hungry. We provide many incentives and support.
