This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Reading and Social Studies to 42 wonderful third graders on the southeast side of San Antonio, Texas. My students are very driven, hard-working, and lovable. They get so excited about their learning and it is such a pleasure to teach them.

My goal for my students is for them to develop a genuine love and excitement for learning.

I love to watch that love and excitement grow more and more each day we are together in the classroom.

My Project

One of my students' favorite activities to do in class is to use the dictionary to find the meanings of new and unfamiliar words. During dictionary digs, my students get so excited when they find the definitions of the words we are searching for.

My classroom dictionaries need a serious update.

Currently, my students are using dictionaries from the 1980's in class. Often, my students are unable to find some of our vocabulary words in our current dictionaries because they are so out-of-date. A new class set of dictionaries would be greatly utilized in my classroom to help my students build their vocabulary.
