Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students I teach are committed to learning and achieving at a high level. They love to come to band class where they are held accountable to strong standards, and they consistently rise to meet these standards.
My students are taught that band is about more than their instrument--it is about helping each other succeed by first being prepared individually and then being prepared as a group.
This type of teamwork builds the band as a community, and it is a joy to see them encourage each other to excel.
My Project
Lamar Middle School has two competitive performing groups, one for seventh grade and one for eighth grade. The students have worked hard on their concert music for this school year and are ready to go to compete!
Unfortunately for our percussion students, our current small crash cymbals no longer make a characteristic sound and our other pair is too heavy for middle school students to carry.
This is critical for the pieces our students perform, and we want their performance to reflect the hard work they have put in to prepare. Correctly sized, quality equipment will help with that!
Please help the Lamar percussion students succeed in their performances this year and for many, many years to come.
