Help me give my students opportunity to use the equipment that crime investigators use on a daily basis. The blood stain and fiber evidence kits are made especially for Forensic Science.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students need science credits to graduate from high school. This is the first year that Forensic Science will be offered to all 11th and 12th grade students as a science credit. Forensic Science is one discipline that combines different science concepts to the real world. This course is an activity-based course which requires the use of various materials in and out of the classroom. It is the application of knowledge to solve a problem.
My school is an inner-city school with all of the challenges and difficulties associated.
46.5% of our students are Economically Disadvantaged with 7.7 % of these students are English Language Learners. Science concepts are very difficult for many of these students.
My Project
Forensic Science will be offered to all 11th and 12th-grade students as an elective science credit. The Forensic Science course is one discipline that combines different science concepts to the real world applications. For example, this course combines the disciplines of biology, chemistry, anatomy, physics, and psychology.
The scientific method is used to collect and analyze evidence through case studies and simulated crime scenes such as blood spatter and fingerprinting analysis.
Thirty percent (30%) of the class is laboratory or activity based. All students are exposed to the proper lab techniques and scientific terminology for this course.
If the student desires to be a crime scene investigator, forensic pathologist or criminal defense attorney this course can increase their knowledge of the Forensic Science world.
