Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a special education teacher working in a first grade ICT classroom. As a teacher in a low-income district, my students face many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite all of these challenges, my students walk into school each morning eager and ready to learn. I'm looking to provide my students with meaningful and authentic learning experiences so that they are able to grow in all aspects of their lives.
My students are funny, creative, and love to move!
They thrive from being able to create and explore with hands-on materials. They want learn first grade "things" and are motivated to succeed just as much as I want them to!
In an ICT setting, we push for our students to thrive both academically and socially. We place a strong emphasis on building social skills, using kind words, having a caring heart, and working as a team! We are full of acceptance and learning to incorporate and appreciate each other's differences.
My Project
My first grade students need different types of organizational items to help support their learning! I am requesting seat sacks, storage bins, and a printer. The seat sacks will help each individual student to organize and keep track of their items. The storage bins will be used to store classroom materials, books, and any additional items in an organized way. The printer and ink will be used for the teacher to print resources for students - such as worksheets, center activities, homework, etc.
All of the requested items will help foster responsibility and allow much easier access for my students.
