New Classroom Books for Mrs. Gazaille's First Grade Classroom
My students need and deserve the opportunity to hear and enjoy these fun, new stories such as Hoot and Peep within our read-aloud time in our first grade classroom.
I have a total of 23 students who are eagerly waiting for the start of school. My classroom consists of sweet seven and eight year old students, who are coming from kindergarten with varying reading levels. Some are already reading when coming into first grade while others are just beginning. One of my main goals as a teacher is to help every single student to achieve the goal of becoming an excellent reader by the end of first grade. I want my first grade students to graduate first grade as successful readers and mathematicians.
My Project
My request is for new books that I will read to my class. We do already have a growing classroom library. However, these new books will include lessons on grammar, phonics, comprehension skills, life lessons, and leadership qualities, as well as opportunities to express ideas through the writing process. They will also allow exposure to the enjoyment of books, including new ideas, new places and even sometimes laughter!
The addition of these new books will allow our classroom to dive more into our curriculum during our ELAR (English, Language Arts and Reading) block.
