Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a Title I school on the outskirts of town. This school has amazing families and students; however, financially, many of them struggle. My students are hard working and excited to learn. This year, more than half of my students are English Language Learners. This can create some challenges in learning, but they are persevering and working hard to learn more and more each day. They love to read and are excited when new books are introduced. My students are respectful and responsible. They are awesome!
My Project
My students need new books to help keep them excited about reading. They love when I introduce a new book. These books would not only add to our class library, but they will also allow for quality read aloud time. Establishing a love of reading is very important, and these fun books will help. There is a diverse assortment that should reach all of my readers. There are chapter books, early readers, and read aloud books. This will allow all students to be exposed to high quality text and be able to read a book at their own level. They will gain so much from each book requested.
