My students need books to improve their reading skills. We need sets of books for guided reading.
My students need small whiteboards to use during math instruction.
Some of my students have not yet discovered a love for reading. I want to be able to provide them with new books to read and enjoy with their classmates. Our books are old and falling apart.
Most of my students come from military families.
They move around a lot. Many have a parent deployed for part of the school year. They are low income families who do their best to support their children. There is a wide range of abilities in my class this year. They are bright, active, creative, and thoughtful.
My Project
My students will be able to read new books with classmates. I will use them to teach guided reading groups as well. My students will have book clubs with their classmates and do book reviews. They will use whiteboards in all subjects but especially math. With the whiteboards, students can quickly show if they are understanding the lesson.
These books, whiteboards, and supplies will help my students with their learning.
They will help me to facilitate learning in the classroom everyday. We use whiteboards already but they are falling apart. Students are currently reading old books that are falling apart. With new books, students will be even more excited to learn through literature.
