My Students
The children in my classroom are part of the KERA preschool program and the Head Start program. They qualify for these programs by being below the poverty income level or by being diagnosed with a disability. My children love to learn. They are also so enthusiastic when they come in and are always wondering and asking what is next. Preschool is the first quality education setting that most of my children experience. It is my goal to help them love learning!
My Project
The children in my program qualify under certain risk factors. Studies have shown that children who have disabilities and live under the poverty level are read to less at home. They also may not have access to high quality literacy materials. My new library center will give children new and popular books that spark an interest in reading. This will help to catch their interest in books. Reading to children helps their creativity, imaginative skills, and overall English and language arts skills. My current library center has very outdated materials. I am asking for new books, puppets, and felt board activities.
