New Books, Stronger Readers

My students need more books in the classroom library! I want to meet current student interests by adding these new books to our library.

My Students

My students live in a neighborhood that has changed dramatically over the past ten years. We have a mix of middle-class students and international students who have recently immigrated to the United States.

My students speak English, Spanish, Mandarin, Karin, Amharic, and German.

They care about the world around them and struggle with making sense of current events and world history. Our classroom is a community where students are known, safe, heard and cared for, and I hope you will join me in building them up.

My Project

Many students lose their love of reading in middle school, and others have rarely found books they want to finish. I hope to have a classroom library that meets the varied interests and reading levels of my students so that each student finds a book that they can't put down.

All students deserve to see themselves as readers.

Building reading stamina is crucial for career and college success. Books are both mirrors and windows, providing reflections and new opportunities to see the world. Please help me support their exploration by adding new titles, with an emphasis on biographies, memoirs and nonfiction books to reach more students.
