Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Wow! All of my students are working so hard with the support of their families in their homes since March 13, 2020. We have waved through a window and waved through a Zoom classroom screen. Our families have maintained our weekly cooking projects in their own kitchens, and the photos they share of their creations have been priceless. We are creating a virtual community through our synchronous and asynchronous learning.
We are learning to share devices and wifi, and to find substitutes when supplies run out or get left at the other parent's home.
While our students are flexible, they remain in need of engaging materials to read, build, and show what they are learning in these unprecedented times
My Project
Our students are growing and learning at home with their families. I am so grateful for the efforts of families to learn alongside our students--through a Zoom synchronous lesson four days a week and later at the dining room table every day.
The most requested items from families since our remote learning started on March 13 has been more printed leveled books!
It so great to hear that our students are reading at home--in many cases, in English and Spanish. We are almost out of paper and ink after 4 weeks of printing distance learning materials.
Help us keep up with our students' appetites for new stories!
