My Project

One of the biggest reasons I changed my career at 30 years old to an English teacher is because I believe in the power of stories. A good story can help us understand perspectives and experiences that are different than our own, open our imaginations to fictional lands, and allow us to expand our own writing and communication skills. Reading books that are engaging serves to prepare students for careers directly after graduation and for the rigorous reading expectations of college.

I can speak from experience that is quite rewarding when a student tells you, "I have never read this many books before." As we all know, there is nothing worse than finishing the newest show on Netflix and not knowing what to watch next.

Many of my students are experiencing this same feeling after completing an incredible book in my class. Would you please consider donating to help refresh my classroom library with some requested books and graphic novels for my students?
