Our school is a rural TK-8 school with an enrollment of 220 students. Most of our students enter TK or Kindergarten without having any school experience. Some come to school with little exposure to books, writing, or oral language. 80% of our students receive Free and Reduced-Price Lunch.
My goal is to provide a fun, safe, and caring environment for these new, excited learners.
I cannot wait to introduce them to the wonderful world around them and all there is to learn.
My Project
I am opening up a new TK/Kindergarten classroom, so I am in need of basic materials and play items. First, I'd like to create Morning Binders to help with our morning routine and learning. Next, I want to build a large picture resource for my little ones and English learners. Finally, TK/Kinders need to play. I'd like to provide safe and constructive dramatic play centers.
By donating to this TK/Kinder project, I will be able to provide a fun, safe, and caring environment for my new, excited learners.
I have been teaching for 19 years but in the upper grades. This is my first experience with such young students. Starting the year with a solid morning routine is a must. The 3-ring binders, heavy duty sheet protectors, Velcro dots and strips, and the Magic erasers will be used for my Good Morning Binders. My TK/Kinders will need lots of picture vocabulary cards to sort, put into categories, and use for writing. That is why I have included many sets of picture vocabulary cards on my wish list. Having fun, safe, dramatic play centers will be a highlight in the classroom. I would love to add the extra large city life rug to their free play area for cars and learning about a neighborhood and fill their kitchen with foods, dishes, and cooking utensils. I want our classroom to be fun and inviting, so they'll want to come to school and be ready to learn.
