This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Kids need to move and they like to move! Team sports are back, and we want to encourage our student athletes to join the fun in learning to play the game of basketball.

At the elementary level, students are learning the basic skills needed to participate successfully in team sports.

Frequent practice time is a must, and standing in line waiting for a turn with limited equipment is not the way to go. In order to keep kids active and engaged during practice, we need more equipment. Every practice is designed to be efficient and to keep kids practicing throughout, and not standing around with nothing to do. Having extra basketballs allows students to pair up with one or two other players to practice their dribbling, passing, or shooting, while also allowing many players to practice at the same time. Keeping our students active with skills to practice throughout, keeps them engaged and allows for a more beneficial use of our time.
