Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a general education teacher in a kindergarten classroom. I am getting ready to meet my 20 energetic five-year-olds who have begun to settle in with a wide range of knowledge and skills. For many of our students, kindergarten is their first time learning in a formal setting, and we would like to have a wide range of learning opportunities for our different learners!
My students are creative, hands-on, and multi-sensory learners.
I hope to provide children with different methods of learning that we hope to hone in on and encourage. With 20 individualized learners, I work to satisfy all levels of development and encourage building on prior skills in our classroom, no matter where the child is!
My Project
Coming from a Montessori background, I like to give children materials in a serve yourself type art shelf in order for them to think up their own ideas. With this project, I would like to get all new skin tone crayons, paper, pastels, paint and art containers for children to express their creativity with supplies to set them up for success. As we know, every person is unique in the way they look and I want to ensure all children are represented in every area of our classroom, especially in the art area. Fresh materials invigorate children to be creative and getting those materials is the start!
