My Students
I am a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district in Pittsburgh, PA. My students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Although they have many struggles, they do thrive in our classroom.
My students enjoy being in a safe and educational environment.
I want them to believe in themselves! Since they are all low income, they receive free breakfast and lunch daily. All of the children are ages 3-5 years and come to school for a 6-hour day. They are greeted daily with a positive attitude and a loving environment.
I hope to make a positive impact on their lives and hope to watch them succeed as they grow and move on to other classes. They deserve to have great experiences and know they can become successful every day in and out of school.
My Project
I would love the opportunity to give my students new dolls to play with in the housekeeping area. These dolls are easily cleaned and can be used for imaginative play. We encourage these students to create ideas and real life scenarios on their own. I would also like a wall clock to help them understand time, and be able to understand transitions better. We also need new mats for nap time. The ones we have are old and peeling. These mats will help them feel more comfortable and sleep better.
