Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Coming from a low-income/high poverty school district, many of my students face so many challenges in and outside of school. I want the classroom to be one less challenge for them to face when they walk in the room. Every day I want to be able to provide my students with the resources to have creative and meaningful learning experiences, and to be able to make their own choices.

The students in my classroom are creative, curious, active learners.

I may not have control over the environment my students grow up in or their home lives, but I want to create a classroom community where they feel empowered to solve problems, make choices, and strive for excellence.

My Project

So many great books have been added to our classroom library and my students are loving it! We are finishing up our research for Black History Month and are moving on to Women's History Month. I want my students to see how strong and inspiring women around the world can be to show them that they can also achieve the same thing.

I would love to add more books to our classroom library so my students can immerse themselves in the history of strong, beautiful, and inspiring women.

We will be using the books to read about a different inspirational woman each day and writing about what made them such an important person, and we will display posters each day in the classroom about that woman for my students to reference throughout the month.

My hope is that by seeing how each of these women impacted the world they will see themselves in these women and know they can be anything they want!
